Three & Thriving

Three & Thriving

Although the age of three is often notorious for its challenges, potty training and the three-nager attitude among them, parents know it is also a critical year of learning and growth for their child. Three-year-olds’ expressive faces and amusing comments demonstrate just how much they are absorbing from their environment. Their seemingly constant need for a bigger pair of shoes illustrates their significant growth spurts. An expanding knowledge of the language, numbers, and a determination to do practically every new activity by themselves hints at a future of expanding knowledge and independence.

Children’s learning and growth at this age are thanks to the foundation laid during their first 1,000 days of life. The very start of their mother’s pregnancy and thereafter had a substantial impact on their health and wellbeing. Today, what they put into their body is just as important.

Proper nutrition is critical for a child’s continued growth and development. However, in the UK, one in four children are at risk for food insecurity. Understanding the importance of a child’s nutritional intake from 0-5 years old, Vitamin Angels UK partners with the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), to increase access to better nutrition for children from low-income families.

Each nursery receives weekly deliveries of self-selected fruits, vegetables, and protein-rich foods. The package is designed to contribute to a quality diet by complementing existing nutrition services and reducing the prevalence of inadequate nutrient intakes and excessive nutrient intakes.

Three is for thriving. Join the Vitamin Angels UK community in working to support our future generations’ health and well-being!
